On a cool windy November night last year, I hooked one of my bucket list fish. The Swan River Mulloway also nicknamed the Ghost of the river for a good reason! It is one of the most elusive fish in the swan with anglers spending up to hundreds of hours before catching their first, lucky I didn’t have this problem as I went out trying to catch these fish with a well-known expert.
Only 2 hours into trying my rod went off and I was hooked up to a giant! The fight was nothing like I had experienced before with the fish taking a long first run then proceeding to stay down deep shaking its head as hard as possible to try and throw the hooks. After playing the fish for around 10 minutes and drifting several hundred metres we finally got to see this giant and within seconds of seeing my first ever Swan River Mulloway it was in my hands with photo’s being taken left, right and centre.
To this day no fish has topped the feeling like catching the Mulloway and this memory will stick with me for the rest of my life.
